Hi beauts,
In cosmetics 101, it is taught that it all begins with your skin care. If you want your makeup to come out as flawless as Beyoncé, you need a clean healthy canvas to paint on. Also it is smart to be preventative with good skin scare regimes while your young, to prevent harsh aging effects on the skin!
I have been swearing by the Clinique 3 step system for a few years now. My skin is sensitive and combination, and after trying so many products, I finally found that Clinique makes my skin look best with barely any breakouts. I have expensive taste...but hey, soft skin too!
Whenever I have any free time, there is a 99.9% chance I'm entrenched in different beauty and fashion websites or browsing through Pinterest. I came across various lists from big name beauty magazines for the top drug store skin care products. Since I recently ran out of my Clinique system, I figured I should give some drug store products a try just to see what the latest and greatest are. Who knows, I might even discover a cheaper alternative that finally gives me that movie star glowing complexion! (Because I'm sure J Law ditches her Chanel moisturizer to walk down to her local CVS for some Neutrogena)
So I browsed the shelves at the drug store for some of the products I read about, and here are the items I bought to try:
1. Neutrogena visibly even daily moisturizer- When I tried this it said it has SPF in it...but it literally is more of a complete sunscreen than a moisturizer! It would be perfect for summer, but as for right now...I'm not a huge fan of my face feeling and smelling like sunscreen as I sit at my desk at work in the middle of March. It's such a tease when i can't be laying on the beach in the sun, putting it to good use. Supposedly it helps even out your skin tone, so i will keep using it for a couple more weeks to see if there is any visible difference. If there isn't, I'll put it away till the summer months.
2. Nip+Fab bee sting fix eye cream- This was on sale for $3 so I bought it for the bargain. Plus it sounds cool. The product is made with bee pollen and it says if you have a bee allergy you shouldn't use it. That's legit. LOL. The consistency is so waxy, I could barely get it on my finger to apply. I thought to myself, no wonder it was on sale. But side note- maybe my long acrylic nails didn't help. IDK, either way "...Hey mom, I bought you this cool new eye cream to try!!" ;)
3. Olay age defying classic night cream- The review I read for this cream said "There's a reason your mom and your grandma have all used Olay for years...because the stuff works!" When I tried this on, it felt so moisturizing and nice on my freshly washed skin! When I woke up the next morning my skin still felt super plush and smooth. It made my skin feel replenished with locked in moisture, which is what I have been desperate to fix in this cold weather. No wonder Olay has been around for decades!
4. Nuance Selma Hyek eye serum- this has a roller ball applique to apply the cream in a circular motion onto your eye area. It is anti- aging so helps fill in fine lines and wrinkles- which is perfect if you smile and laugh a lot, like me, because I am always trying to prevent those lines from appearing in the future! It's packed with Vitamin C, which is always a plus. There is a generous amount in the tube and it feels nice on the skin. The cream made my under eye area feel firmer and hydrated.
Give some of these skin care products a try and let me know what you think! If you have any drugstore favorites, let me know in the comments section below:) I'm always looking to try new products!
XO Thanks for reading!
